Build Your Own Database-Driven Website Using PHP & MySQL ebook free download

“Content is king.” Cliché, yes; but it has never been more true. Once you've mastered HTML and learned a few neat tricks in JavaScript and Dynamic HTML, you can probably design a pretty impressive-looking Website. But your next task must be to fill that fancy page layout with some real information. Any site that successfully attracts repeat visitors has to have fresh and constantly updated content. In the world of traditional site building, that means HTML files—and lots of 'em. The problem is that, more often than not, the people who provide the content for a site are not the same people who handle its design. Frequently, the content provider doesn't even know HTML. How, then, is the content to get from the provider onto the Website? Not every company can afford to staff a full-time Webmaster, and most Webmasters have better things to do than copying Word files into HTML templates anyway.

PHP5 and MySQL ebook

Although we’re biased, we believe that the PHP Web-scripting language is the hands-down winner in its niche—by far the easiest and most flexible server-side tool for getting great Web
sites up and running in a hurry. Although millions of Web programmers worldwide could be wrong, in this particular case, they’re not. MySQL is the most popular open-source database platform, and it is the first choice of many for creating database-backed PHP-driven Web sites As we write this, PHP5 is in its third beta version, and PHP has continued to grow in reach,
adoption, and features since we wrote the first two versions of this book.

What Is PHP?

PHP is an open-source, server-side, HTML-embedded Web-scripting language that is compatible with all the major Web servers (most notably Apache). PHP enables you to embed code fragments in normal HTML pages—code that is interpreted as your pages are served up to users. PHP also serves as a “glue” language, making it easy to connect your Web pages to
server-side databases.

Ajax JavaScript and PHP e-books free download

Ajax stands for Asynchronous JavaScript And XML. Although strictly speaking Ajax is not itself a technology, it mixes well-known programming techniques in an uncommon way to enable web developers to build Internet applications with much more appealing user interfaces than those to which we have become accustomed.
When using popular desktop applications, we expect the results of our work to be made available immediately, without fuss, and without our having to wait for the whole screen to be redrawn by the program. While using a spreadsheet such as Excel, for instance, we expect the changes we make in one cell to propagate immediately through the neighboring cells while we continue to type, scroll the page, or use the mouse.
